Working remotely is getting more and more attention nowadays. People feel stuck in their lives. Or mothers want to create a life in which they can be there at home for their child. Before the pandemic, this was already the most normal thing in the world for me. It also gave me the space to live in a rhythm that suits me. To travel. And where I don’t have to be in the office from 9 to 5 and can now live in the South of France without having to go to an office and spend a lot of time with my daughter. In this blog, I share more about how you can work with me and learn from my experience.
Working remotely since 2017
Since 2017 I have been working remotely from my laptop for various online companies. I have gained a lot of experience in recent years. Think of recruitment, financial administration, web design, social media, translations, building online learning environments, building sales pages, and optimizing online companies.
During my journey to remote working, I also wanted to immediately experience what it would be like to work from abroad. For example, I spent a while in Bulgaria at Coworking Bansko (Walhalla for remote workers). And I have returned again and again in the years since because the community there is super nice. And followed many trips later to Israel, Greece, Ibiza, and France.
Working remotely as a technical & business support specialist, business guidance for entrepreneurs and teaching yoga
My focus now is mainly on Technical support and guiding individuals and entrepreneurs to an online business that works for them.
I started as a VA in 2017 and took on all kinds of jobs. I learned a lot from this. And the jobs came easily to me.
A year later I had to take a rest due to a car accident and after a rehabilitation process and yoga teacher training I started as a yoga teacher. The perfect combination for me to combine remote working with teaching yoga classes. This eventually led to my own yoga studio, which I had in the Netherlands for 5 years. But I was also busy automating registrations as much as possible, including building online courses because the doors had to close due to the pandemic. During those months of closure, I decided to fully focus on the online courses and resigned from my VA jobs. After all, I spent 10,000 months selling my courses. And I had a lot of fun with that.
After the pandemic, I went back to Bulgaria and spoke at the Bansko Nomad Festival about the impact that breathwork can have on your ability to create and focus as a digital nomad. The combination of wellbeing and remote working is a real solution for me. And for many other people who work remotely.
Moving to France
A few weeks later a holiday with my boyfriend to the south of France was planned. Actually only 2 weeks. But this turned out to be 3 months and then we decided to move to the South of France. For me, it didn’t matter where I worked from. And my friend was ready for something new and an environment in nature. During our moving plans to the South of France, I became pregnant, and I am still grateful that I can work online and therefore spend a lot of time with my baby in the first year and still now. I work from home. Sometimes I drive to a big city, or I look for a bookshop that has good coffee. And I work with clients who, like me, want to be free from where they want to work.
