Do you regularly experience pain in your body? What many people don’t know is that blockages in the body in the form of pain and injuries can arise from emotions. Emotions that don’t get the chance to find a way out. This is mainly caused by fear. But emotions such as anger, sadness and worry can also express themselves in physical stagnation in the body. In this article, you can read more about methods you can use and how you can release emotional blockages in the connective tissue.
Yin yoga and emotional blockage release
You can use Yin Yoga as a method to learn to feel again. In today’s society, happiness is often the only emotion shown. Anger, sadness and fear are emotions that are often suppressed. For these emotions would not move you forward. The opposite is true. These emotions actually get you moving over time. “It’s an energy that wants to move”. And that’s right, it’s an energy that demands attention. What does it require of you? What does your feeling indicate?
Sphinx pose
For stabilizing the spine. With this posture, you create space in the middle of your back and your lower back. Especially if you have a lot of lower back complaints, you can practice this posture more often. The emotion fear is linked to complaints in the lower back. You will notice that more space is slowly created. Hold this pose for 3 to 5 minutes.
What is yin yoga, and what is the effect on the connective tissue?
At Yin Yoga, we sit in an attitude for about 3 to 5 minutes. Sometimes a little longer to really go into depth and create space. In the posture, you work on the rhythm of your own breathing to the places in your body that require attention. The places that contain tension and any blockages. You don’t have to force your breathing. This one just lets you flow as it is. Our breath itself is able to regulate itself to relaxation when you just let it be as it is.
Release emotional blockages in the connective tissue
After the postures, there is a moment of feeling. That moment of feeling is there to let the connective tissue find its way back after a stretch. In this, you can really notice what the attitude means to you. This is the moment of release in which emotional blockages in the connective tissue are released.
It often feels uncomfortable to sit in one position for a long time. But the same goes for your attitude behind the computer. How long have you been bent over behind the laptop? How long you may unconsciously stand in an attitude that will later bother you in your back, neck or shoulders. Or emotions that you keep inside, how does the tension in your body feel? It makes a lot of sense if you experience resistance in the poses or have difficulty surrendering to the release during the process of feeling it out. Practice makes perfect.
With yin yoga we work on the deeper connective tissue, and we stay in the posture for a long time to create space in the connective tissue and bring the fascia back into balance.

Malasana // Squad Pose
With this posture you give space to the hip area, lower back, groin and pelvic floor. This posture can offer you a little more relaxation if you sit a lot during the day. In addition, it also offers relaxation for lower back pain during the menstrual period. Hold this pose for 3 to 5 minutes.
Release emotional and energetic blockages with yin yoga
Above I mainly describe the physical part. The energetic part is linked to this.
Yin Yoga is based on the 5 element teachings of Chinese medicine and on the functioning of the fascia. By working on the deeper connective tissue and the fascia, we work on the meridians. These meridians run along the same lines as the fascia. As a result, yin yoga has an effect on the physical and energetic body.
Through the deep stretches, we give the energy and thus the emotions that are linked to the organs the space to be there. This makes it easier to let go of emotions and creates space in the body again.
The value of yin yoga is great. During my classes, I teach people how they themselves can use their breath and deep stretches as an inner healing tool. Due to more and more external stimuli and thought patterns, people have lost connection with the natural rhythm. Yin Yoga helps you find this again, to remove emotional stagnation and to find space to Live Freely again.
