Discover the transformative benefits of vagus nerve healing. Learn how breathwork, fascia therapy, and somatic practices can calm your nervous system and restore inner balance.
What Is the Vagus Nerve?
The vagus nerve is one of the most important components of our autonomic nervous system. Often referred to as the wandering nerve (from Latin vagus), it meanders from the brainstem through the face, chest, heart, and down into the gut. This vast reach allows it to influence everything from digestion and immune response to mood and emotional regulation.
When activated gently and intentionally, the vagus nerve becomes a bridge between body and mind, ushering us into a deep state of calm, clarity, and connection.
Why Vagus Nerve Healing Matters
In today’s world, many of us live in a state of chronic stress. Constant fight-or-flight responses keep our bodies stuck in tension, anxiety, and disconnection. Over time, this contributes to burnout, inflammation, digestive issues, sleep disturbances, and emotional overwhelm.
Vagus nerve healing offers a way back to ourselves. By stimulating this powerful nerve, we can shift our nervous system into a parasympathetic “rest-and-digest” state—where healing and self-regulation become possible.
Techniques I integrate in my sessions
At my retreats and online sessions, vagus nerve healing is woven gently into the fabric of all our offerings. These include:
🌬️ 1. Breathwork
Specific breathing patterns, such as coherent breathing or box breathing, tone the vagus nerve and invite the body into a state of peaceful alertness.
🧘♀️ 2. Fascia & Yin Yoga
Slow, deep postures and fascia release practices help unlock stored tension, especially in areas innervated by the vagus nerve. This creates space for energy and emotion to flow freely again. Follow my Yin & Fascia Release Masterclass to learn more about it and receive my eBook ‘Relax your Vagus Nerve with Yin & Fascia Therapy with it.
🔔 3. Sound Healing
Vibrational therapies using gongs, singing bowls, and voice humming stimulate vagal activity and reset the nervous system naturally.
🤲 4. Touch & Self-Massage
Gentle abdominal or neck massage, especially around the carotid artery and cranial base, can encourage vagus nerve activation and soothe the body into stillness. Fascia balls can support you in this.
🌀 5. Rituals & Ceremony
Our womb healing rituals, cacao ceremonies, and feminine embodiment practices reconnect you to the sacred self, where nervous system regulation becomes an act of devotion.
